Dinayuri Rodriguez

Dinayuri Rodriguez is a filmmaker and PhD candidate in Anthropology at the University of Chicago. Her work and research interests include Caribbean ethnography and ethnographic filmmaking, queer affect theory, and black anarchism/black radical traditions. Her dissertation, Bitterness and Power, examines bachata as a critical ethnographic site from which to think bitterness as a negative affect of political disenchantment in the wake of “failed” revolutionary struggles against U.S. imperialism on the one hand, and Dominican authoritarian regimes on the other.
